Our Aim – Sahana Foundation

OUR AIM

At the Sahana Foundation, our mission is to bring comfort, dignity and hope to patients and families facing life limiting illness in Sri Lanka. We believe that every person, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves compassionate care, especially in their most vulnerable moments.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to improving access to palliative and end of life care across Sri Lanka. Working alongside local organisations and healthcare teams, we help develop hospice services, provide essential medical support and raise awareness about the importance of comfort focused care.

Our Work

Our projects are rooted in collaboration and compassion. Through partnerships with like minded charities, we strengthen community networks and ensure help reaches those who need it most. We also provide financial assistance, emotional support and practical aid to families affected by cancer and other serious illnesses, giving them space to focus on what matters most: time together.

Beyond Care

Before Sahana’s passing, our work as Path to the Future focused on supporting disaster relief, educational initiatives and urgent community projects. After the passing of Sahana Ananth, one of our daughters, we chose to rename the organisation from Path to the Future to the Sahana Foundation in her honor. We believe that doing this keeps her legacy alive and inspires us to continue helping as many people as we can.

Since becoming the Sahana Foundation, our purpose has deepened. Today, the Foundation plays a pivotal role in supporting Comfort Care Home, a dedicated hospice that provides palliative care for patients with life limiting illnesses. Through our continued support, we help ensure that individuals and families receive the dignity, care and compassion they deserve.
